🔗How It Works

The CC-PAOH01 is installed in a ControlLogix(1756)chassis and connects to the ControlNet network via fiber optic cables.It can:

Extend a ControlNet network beyond the 1000-meter copper limit.

Convert signals from copper-based ControlNet(via another module like 1756-CNBR)to fiber optic.

Repeat signals to maintain signal integrity over long runs.

Enable inter-building or inter-facility communication with immunity to ground loops and EMI.

⚠️Note:The CC-PAOH01 is not a standalone network interface like the 1756-CN2 or CN2R.It is typically used in conjunction with another ControlNet module or as a dedicated optical repeater.

🛠️Installation Tips

Fiber Handling:Use clean,undamaged fiber cables.Avoid tight bends(min.30 mm radius).

Wavelength:Typically uses 1300 nm multimode fiber.

Termination:Ensure proper SC connector mating;clean ends with fiber optic cleaner.

Network Configuration:Use Rockwell’s Network Configuration Manager or Studio 5000 to monitor link status.

Grounding:Ensure proper grounding to avoid noise coupling,even with fiber isolation.

✅Common Use Case Example

In a large water treatment plant,a ControlLogix PLC in the main control room uses a 1756-CN2R on ControlNet over copper.To connect a remote pump station 2 km away,a CC-PAOH01 is installed at both ends,converting the signal to fiber optic.The CC-PAOH01 acts as a repeater,maintaining signal strength and enabling real-time control.

❗Important Notes

The CC-PAOH01 is discontinued/legacy.Rockwell Automation has moved toward Ethernet/IP and CIP networks over Ethernet(e.g.,10/100/1000BASE-T,fiber).

Replacement or modernization often involves migrating to 1756-EN2x or 1756-EN4x modules with fiber uplinks.

However,CC-PAOH01 is still widely used in existing systems and available through surplus,refurbished,or third-party suppliers.
