ABB SDCS-PIN-21 Card: Isolated Power Supply for Sensitive Control Signals

In a large-scale petrochemical refinery, intermittent faults and signal noise were plaguing a critical safety instrumented system (SIS) monitoring pressure and temperature loops. Diagnostics pointed to power-borne interference affecting the analog input cards. Engineers replaced a generic power distribution point with the dedicated ABB SDCS-PIN-21​ power interface card. The SDCS-PIN-21​ provided superior filtering and isolation, eliminating the noise at its source. This intervention resolved the spurious alarms, restored measurement accuracy, and crucially enhanced the reliability of the safety system, preventing unnecessary plant trips and ensuring continuous, safe operation.
