Application Scenarios:
In a high-precision laser cutting machine, the cutting head must move with extreme speed and accuracy along complex 3D paths. This is achieved by a multi-axis servo system where each axis must respond with microsecond precision. The main drive cabinet houses several compact but powerful SINFINION drive modules, each centered on an ABB SINT4610C main circuit board. One board, for instance, controls the high-dynamic X-axis motor. The SINT4610C receives a 3-phase AC supply, rectifies it to a stable DC bus voltage, and then uses its intelligent inverter section to generate perfectly timed PWM signals to control the motor’s torque and position. More critically, it processes high-speed position commands from the central motion controller via a SERCOS fiber-optic link and executes local, ultra-fast current control loops. This ensures the motor follows the commanded trajectory without lag or jitter, directly solving the core pain point of precision and dynamic response. A failure or degradation in the SINT4610C would mean a complete loss of axis control, halting production.
