Main Features and Advantages
Direct 230 V AC interface: The principal value of the 140DAI74000 is that it reads line-voltage signals natively. Every motor starter auxiliary contact, every 230 V proximity switch and every breaker status contact can be wired straight to the module, which removes the interposing relay, its base, its coil suppression and its wiring from the design. On a sixteen-point card that is a substantial saving in panel space, material cost and installation labour, and it also removes sixteen electromechanical devices that would eventually wear out.Wide frequency and voltage tolerance: The capacitive input of the 140DAI74000 operates across 47…63 Hz, so the same module behaves identically on a 50 Hz European supply and a 60 Hz North American one. With continuous tolerance to 264 V and single-cycle survival at 400 V, it rides through the voltage excursions, load-shedding events and switching transients that destroy narrower-input cards.High isolation protecting the rest of the rack: Rated at 1780 Vrms for one minute both between channels and between the field side and the backplane bus, the 140DAI74000 keeps high-voltage field wiring galvanically separated from the CPU and communication modules sharing the rack. In older plants where cable insulation degrades and junction boxes take water, that isolation is what prevents a field fault from propagating into a processor.Diagnostics that shorten fault-finding: Sixteen individual green LEDs show the live state of every input, a green Active LED confirms backplane communication and a red Fault LED flags external wiring problems such as a blown fuse or a lost common. A technician can distinguish a failed field device from a failed module in seconds without a programming terminal.Low power, standard footprint: At 180 mA bus current and 5.5 W dissipation, the 140DAI74000 is economical on backplane power and adds little heat to a densely populated rack, and it drops into any open Quantum slot alongside the rest of the Quantum I/O family.
