The 1734-IE2C is an Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) POINT I/O analog current input module featuring 2 single-ended, non-isolated input channels. Designed for distributed control architectures, this module accepts industry-standard 4–20 mA and 0–20 mA current signals and converts them to 16-bit signed integer data for use by ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and other Logix-family controllers via compatible POINT I/O communication adapters.

The 1734-IE2C integrates delta-sigma analog-to-digital conversion, on-board channel-level alarm processing, and configurable digital filtering into a compact DIN-rail mounted package. With removable terminal blocks and comprehensive LED diagnostics, it streamlines both commissioning and ongoing maintenance in distributed I/O systems.

Application Scenarios

In a municipal water treatment facility, a CompactLogix controller needed to monitor pressure transmitters and flow meters located across a sprawling filtration building. The existing wiring ran hundreds of feet back to a central control panel, introducing noise and voltage drop that degraded measurement accuracy. The engineering team deployed a 1734-IE2C module on a remote POINT I/O rack near the process area, connected via EtherNet/IP to the main controller.

Each 1734-IE2C accepted 4–20 mA signals from two pressure transmitters. The module’s delta-sigma converter and configurable 60 Hz notch filter effectively rejected electrical noise from nearby pump VFDs.
